Charity welcomes Budget's Gift Aid Small Donation Scheme

We welcome the Government's plan to introduce a new Gift Aid Small Donation Scheme.

This will particularly benefit us smaller charities that have to currently maintain quite detailed (and what some might consider intrusive) records of its donors in order to be able make a claim for Gift Aid.

The guidance as it currently appears in consultation form appears to be quite strict, but could allow us to reclaim up to £1,250 in Gift Aid on small cash donations up to £5,000.

Our purpose and aims

The charity’s objects (the Objects) are

For the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of dogs, and in particular Staffordshire bull terriers, which are in need of care and attention by any means which now and hereafter may be deemed to be charitable in law and particularly by:

(1) aiding dogs in distress through injury or any other cause and arranging veterinary treatment where necessary

(2) finding good and suitable new homes for dogs in our care or that come to our attention; and

(3) assisting members of the public by means of information, education or in any way whatsoever that promotes appropriate care, protection and humane treatment of dogs.

The above objects were approved by the Charity Commission as charitable in law when Registration was approved in 2009.
